Children's
Learning Programs
Children
- Grades 1-5
Each
time we bring our children to faith learning hour, we are
bringing them closer to the love and knowledge of Jesus.
to be a disciple of Jesus we must first get to know who
Jesus is. We do this by listening to the stories of the
Bible again and again. At the Children's Faith Learning
Hour we use the rotation method of learning using
story, art, computer interaction, film and creative play.
Come visit our children's facilities and meet the dedicated
teachers who design and carry out this program.
February
- The Good Samaritan
Who is our neighbor? Jesus tells a story that shakes the
belief system of his hearers. A hated person (a Samaritan)
is the only one to stop and help an injured man out of 3
people to pass by. Jesus is trying to say – all people,
even those we think of as enemies, are our neighbors.
March
- The Last Supper
Who is at the
last supper? We’ll look at all the apostles, but especially
the loved apostle, the one who betrays Jesus, and the one
who is inheriting the church (Peter). We will look at the
link between the last supper and holy communion that we
receive each week at worship.
April
- Jesus Heals
Jesus
healed many people throughout the gospels. His compassion
teaches us to reach out to those who are hurting in our
own families, church and community. We will hopefully nurture
your children’s own compassionate heart for those
who are ill, sad, or grieving.
May
- Prayer and the Sign of the Cross
Sometimes
we take for granted that our children know how to pray –
that we’ve taught them what they need to know. We
will take another look at teaching children how to pray
and connect with our God in the everyday. It may be a good
time for parents and teachers to look again at the way we
pray, and learn something new about inviting God into our
lives in the everyday.
June
and July - God's Creation - Caring for the Earth
Being
good stewards of what God has given us to care for is the
theme for these next two months . How do we care for the
earth? How can we improve upon what we’re already
doing? What are some dangers of not caring for the earth?
What are the positive things that can happen as result of
our actions or non-actions. What does scripture tell us
about our stewardship?
