Week of November 20th, 2022
We are in need of people willing to light the Advent wreath. Please let Pastor Emily know if you are available. See the bulletin about CVAN shoebox items. All donations should fit in a shoebox. We also have Angle Tree sign-ups in the narthex. We would like to have all items on Sunday, November 27th. Click on the YouTube icon at right to see our services online.
Monday Night Bible Study on Zoom and in the coffee house
Pastor Emily looks forward to meeting with you on Zoom and in the Coffee House with an adult catechism study of the Lord’s Prayer, Ten Commandments, and the Apostles’ Creed. You don't need any study materials, unless, of course, you would like to bring your Bible! The login codes are the same every week, but just contact Pastor Emily if you need help. Invite your friends, family and neighbors!
Mt. Hermon's Little Free Pantry
We have a FREE Pantry in our parking lot. If you or someone you know is in need of food, please do not hesitate to stop by and have a look. Take what you need, give what you can. Donations can be left at the pantry itself or the church office during staffed hours.
Feeding the Five Thousand ... Matthew 14:13-21 (NRSV): 13 Now when Jesus heard this, he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them and cured their sick. 15 When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” 16 Jesus said to them, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” 17 They replied, “We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish.” 18 And he said, “Bring them here to me.” 19 Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. 20 And all ate and were filled; and they took up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full. 21 And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children."
Isaiah 58:10 (NRSV): 10 if you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday.
Ezekiel 18:7 (NRSV): 7 (He) does not oppress anyone, but restores to the debtor his pledge, commits no robbery, gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with a garment
